UHS offers a wide range of rotation variety
for the physical therapist. Here is just some of what you
can do as a staff therapist with our organization.
Acute Inpatient Services
Our PT staff provides
rehab services to the acute care beds of both Binghamton
General and Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. Skilled
intervention is provided to inpatients with a variety of
diagnoses based on physician order and identified needs.
Physical therapists are part of an orthopedic team providing
services to the inpatient ortho unit as well.
Sandiford Rehab Unit
Our 24 bed rehab
unit is staffed with OTs, PTs, SLPs and a Recreational
Therapist, all providing inpatient rehabilitation services
to patients with an identified need. As part of our community-based
approach to health care, UHS has established working
relationships with multiple community agencies (home care
providers, prosthetic and orthotic agencies) that provide
support and advocacy for a diversified population of individuals
with musculoskeletal and neurological injuries.
Outpatient Rehab
Outpatient Rehab services are located at Binghamton General Hospital and 4 outpatient clinics specializing in orthopedic and sports-related
injuries. Clinical services offered include:preventive sports medicine,
comprehensive evaluation and treatment of all physical
injuries, rehabilitative techniques focusing on back and
neck injuries, posture evaluations and objective strength
testing. Types of patients referred to the Sports Medicine
Center range from the weekend athlete to the professional
athlete, but also include the non-athlete with musculoskeletal
problems.
Industrial Rehab/Outpatient
Ortho Therapy
Our outpatient clinic specializes in ortho
injuries and regional industrial needs. Clinical services
include preventative fitness and wellness education, evaluation
and treatment of back, neck and other neuromusculoskeletal
injuries, and contract services to regional business and
industry, such as injury management and prevention, ergonomic
analysis and post offer/pre-work screening.
Hand Rehab
Affiliated with our industrial
rehab and outpatient ortho services, this specialized program
is staffed by OTs with Hand Therapy Certification, and
well as PTs. The program helps those injured by trauma, affected
by disease or deformity, or those recovering from hand
surgery. Services include: custom-made static and dynamic
splints, performance of work-related activities and daily
living tasks, complete upper extremity evaluation (range
